Warrnambool Entertainment Centre Landscape Design (2010)

Warrnambool Entertainment Centre Landscape Design (2010)

The design seeks to balance the strong curtain wall of glass and steel with a 'lighter' foreground to both enhance the interplay between exterior and interior, and to accentuate night lighting potential.  The interplay is simple, to construct a formal public space and accentuate the entry and box office as core public exchange areas.  Seating consisting of both standard street furniture and/or raised sandstone pediments (low walls) may be incorporated to define and articulate edges.

The overall intention is to achieve balance with the potential of the village green and accentuate the basic colour palette of Warrnambool, blue, green, sand, and grey.  The site design is simple with an axis offset from Timor Street.  This is an exciting new development for Warrnambool that builds upon a strong cultural tradition.  The design reaffirms this tradition by balancing common local themes with a familiarity and lightness of touch.
