The vision for the Devonport CBD was to transform the city into a vibrant and prosperous regional city serving as North West Tasmania's leading commercial and cultural centre. It will be recognised as the cultural hub of the region with its iconic arts and tourism precinct. A revitalised city heart, open to the Mersey River and parklands; a CBD that has successfully interwoven its historic precincts with state of the art sustainable developments. Renaissance Planning has developed a Strategy which is based on the staged development of a Riverside Plaza precinct, significant regional level retail opportunities and addressing structural issues within the CBD. The design will transform the existing CBD into a world class, mixed-use, urban community with a vibrant arts and tourism precinct attracting local residents, business travellers and tourists alike.
